Exposition
Visual artists and architects, Camille Bellot & François Pottier create site-specific works on a monumental scale. Their sculptures, nourished by a fantastic and poetic imagination, invoke a bestiary that questions our reality and man’s place in his environment. From salvaged fragments, patiently carved or furiously shredded, mythological creatures are born, complex and out of scale. Between raw material, figurative and dreamlike dimensions, their works aim for a direct relationship with the viewer, privileging emotion and bodily sensation.
At the art center, in response to the engoulants, the carcass of an immense beast lies on the ground, around which the chapel seems to have been erected. Set in stone, the creature’s skeleton traverses space and walls, extending beyond the building’s boundaries like an enigmatic vestige of an ancient, mystical presence
