The exhibition “Brodañ an harz-labour” shows the work carried out over several months by Colleen Baranger and Joséphine Lefort in homage to the Penn sardins strike of 1924. Between Rennes, Montfort-sur-Meu and Douarnenez, they led participatory embroidery workshops whose main objective was the creation of a fresco based on a photograph from the collections of the Museum of Brittany.
Colleen Baranger obtained her Master's degree in Production/Exhibition of Works of Art from the University of Lille in 2022. The daughter of a seamstress, she developed an interest in textile practices from childhood. During her studies, she discovered the history of these techniques, which only deepened her passion, particularly for embroidery. She is a co-founder of the Rituael collective, which brings together three artists around feminist issues. She is currently an artist-in-residence at the Terrains Vagues shared studios in Rennes.
Joséphine Lefort navigates between painting, dance, and cultural project development. Her paintings translate anecdotes, memories, and lived emotions. Dance occupies a central place in her practice, allowing her to explore the link between movement and space, embody ideas through the body, and convey them. Through her cultural projects, she presents subjects through various forms of expression. She enjoys transforming an idea into an experience and working with diverse partners to enrich each project.
