Passerelle Centre d’art contemporain ⎹ Cercle Naval

In January 2026, Passerelle Contemporary Art Center temporarily moved out of its original premises on Rue Charles Berthelot. Its activities have not been affected at all, but will be based off-site for one year at the former Cercle Naval on Rue du Château in Brest and at the Manoir de Kerlaouen in Lesneven.

This temporary move is a welcome opportunity for Passerelle to reach new audiences in an iconic Brest venue that is little known to the general public. Since 2021, the former Cercle Naval has been hosting artists by providing studio space, and since November 2025, it has also housed the Brest Métropole Tourist Office.

Passerelle’s artistic programming for the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 seasons will be relocated. Starting in March 2026, two exhibitions will open: the first, on the history of graffiti in Brest from 1984 to 2004, in collaboration with the National Center for Digital Archives of Urban Art (ARCANES), will be presented in the grand ballroom on the ground floor of the former Cercle Naval; the second is a group exhibition of works from the Frac Bretagne, presented at the Manoir de Kerlaouen in Lesneven.

The arts and culture education programmes run by Passerelle’s Atelier des publics continue to expand, notably in a dedicated space within the Cercle Naval. Artist residencies supported by the contemporary art centre are held in one of the studios on Rue du Château.

Passerelle is a non-profit organisation designated as a “Contemporary Art Center of National Interest.”
